Fun Fall Activities

This is the nature preserve at our apartment complex. When we came to look at this complex, there was a big lake on the map, and we said, "In the land of 10,000 lakes we had to find the only apartment complex that is on a swamp which was mislabeled on a map as a lake." Ha ha we really do love our nature. This was in October, before MinneSNOWta came along in November.

Last minute touring of St. Paul before winter. We enjoyed the Cathedral and the walking tour of a bunch of Victorian mansions for which St. Paul is especially famous. It was a beautiful Saturday.

And now....Halloween Weekend....

For Halloween, Pete and I dressed up as an Ump and Twins' Baseball Player Joe Mauer. It was a blast! Our friends had a really fun Halloween party with games and appetizers. I dressed up for school as well....my students thought it was awesome. I love Halloween!

State Fair with My my and Clarkie in town for Labor Day, so fun!Broncos and Vikings game, guess we represent our true colors!
Dad came to visit over his birthday and we had a great time!!
Redo-ing a 15 dollar desk from Good Will which is like a DI. I bought some knobs from Anthropologie for 3 dollars each, but now I need to fill in the holes from the drawer pulls...any ideas?
Ahhhh, beautiful lake superior coast. This is a great lighthouse that we visited north of Duluth.
Another furniture before and after. The knobs say hello sailor :) I was thinking of doing the imperial trellis in a bright color from a shrunken stencil made using a sample of wallpaper that I bought. ideas?? It's our tv stand.

The boundary waters.....where no man has gone before....ok not really we saw a few people....it was a popular destination.
Our starter home in Duluth....just kidding, but a gorgeous 19th century mansion B&B
Ahhhh, the audio tours never stop with pete....we went on a really long tour, but he endured many more shops than I should have asked for. A little give and take for our getaways history for shopping...I can do that!

4th of July fun!

These girls have been some real life savers! They gave me so much confidence to do all the projects that we did together that you'll see below. Kristy and Dalan on the left, and Allyse and Rob in the middle, and no we didn't plan the red and blue, but it was the 4th of July! I led a sing-a-long which was absolutely hilarious with a bunch of adults singing "This land is your land" and "I'm proud to be an American" It was only after those two songs that I noticed all of the kids had gone to play at the playground....ha haBeautiful Stillwater and Taylors Falls...our first explorations

Big Changes

We are really enjoying the move to Minneapolis. Pete likes his job a lot, but it is a bit stressful. Things are great here, recently I got a job with the International School of Minnesota which is so exciting! This summer I have taken up homemaking. It is pretty fun!! Here are a few pictures to show our trip out here and my projects.

We painted an accent wall a tranquil gray blue which was really fun to do together, and we like how it turned out. Here was our dining room, and then we did a little shabby chic - ing to it.

Here are the napkins that my friends and I made into pillows.

Ah, Mackinac Island!! How fun that little place was!! Imagine, a whole island with no cars....just bikes, boats, and carriages!

Easter Weekend Trip

Pete and I had a blast exploring Quebec and Montreal. We both had Good Friday and Monday off, so we headed out for a long drive to Canada, where we enjoyed amazing food and beautiful old towns. Yummy dinner at Misto in Montreal

Really cool restaurant from 1640, original site of an inn.

Gorgeous, hotel, not historical, but totally pretty, turn of the 19th century era
Streets of quebec
The fortress walls, pretty tight...
The last picture is in Syracuse, at the famous Dinosaur, which is awesome southern barbecue.
